The Spartans struck back with two quick scores, but the Griffins answered with a 56 yard touchdown run by Markel Smith. The Griffin defense stepped up by shutting out the Spartans the entire second half. The Griffins gained more ground with a 2 yard score by the Randy Frisch Homecoming MVP trophy winner Markel Smith. The Griffins completed MCC play this season with a loss to the #1 team in the area CBC. The Griffins took and early 8-7 lead on the Cadets, but were unable to string together more than 1 or 2 first downs in a row on offense and couldn’t stop the powerful CBC offense throughout the contest. Quarterback Andrew Auer set up the first score with a 38 yard run to the CBC 1 and Matt Guignon finished it off with a 1 yard plunge. Game 5: Vianney Shut Out by SLUH
Vianney 0 SLUH 48
The Griffins hosted the Junior Billikens of SLUH on Friday night, September 23rd. After stopping SLUH on their first two possessions and moving the ball on offense the Griffins started off strong, but special team’s miscues and big plays by the Jr. Bill’s offense and defense doomed Vianney. Throughout the game the Griffins gave SLUH a short field to work with and were unable to get the ground or air game going. Up next for the Griffins (1-4) will be the #1 ranked CBC Cadets at 7pm on Friday at CBC.
