Griffin Basketball 2011-2012

An outstanding season comes to an end

It began as a defensive battle, with Vianney down 20 – 14 at the half. But despite the support of droves of spirited fans, the Griffins were not able to match the Stars’ outstanding shooting.

The Griffins finish a record-breaking season at 27-2.

Griffins top Troy, move on to quarterfinals

The varsity basketball team had their offense and defense clicking last night in the state sectional game vs. Troy.  The Griffin offense was firing on all cylinders as four players made  first-half three pointers. The defense was strong throughout the game taking the Trojans out of their offense. The victory moves Vianney to the state quarterfinals vs. #1 ranked McCluer North.  That game will be played at UMSL on Saturday at 2:45 p.m.  

Make plans to arrive early for this highly anticipated match-up.

A way-too-exciting fourth quarter capped a tight game as the 26-1 Griffins move on to Sectional play.

Griffs head for district playoffs

The Griffins open district play at Fox High School on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Mehlville-Oakville contest. 

The winner of the district semifinals will advance to the district championship on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at Fox High School.

Griffins beat CBC in overtime, are undefeated in MCC

The 63-58 victory over the Cadets makes these Griffins just the fourth Vianney team in the last 17 years to go undefeated in the Metro Catholic Conference.

Brad Woodson had 17 points, and Richard Dorhauer and Tony Cochran each had 14 points for the win.
