Game 9: Griffins Shut Out Parkway West to Win Game 2 in Districts

Vianney 26 Parkway West 0

The Griffins followed their game plan and executed well on Friday night beating the Longhorns 26-0. A 16 yard Andrew Auer pass to Joe Somogye got the scoring going. Markel Smith who finished with a game-high 198 yards on the ground, scored on the first play of the second half on a 41 yard scamper. The Griffin defense stuffed the Longhorns again and again throughout the night forcing 7 punts. Markel Smith powered his way behind Justin Summers and Greg Eilermann for his second score of the night; a 7 yard TD plunge. Smith added a third and final TD on a 50 yard run. Up next for the Griffins will be the final round of district play. Next Friday the Griffins (3-6) will travel to Washington (3-6) to take on the Blue Jays at 7pm. The winner will advance to first round of the Class 5 playoffs.
